The Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE) was established in 1972 as an Institute of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and specializes in research and development activities in the field of defense industry. In addition to its research and development activities, TÜBİTAK SAGE also develops simulation software in which the elements of military organizations, the behaviors and reactions of military or civilian actors can be analyzed, together with its infrastructure, tools, devices/equipment and the knowledge of valuable scientists.
